Man Charged With Writing Graffiti On Someone's Property: Police

He was arrested and charged last week, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested after he wrote graffiti on someone else's property, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Matthew J. Maffia, 43, of Hampton Bays was arrested on April 12 after an investigation by patrol units revealed he had used permanent marker to create the graffiti.

He was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal tampering and making graffiti, both misdemeanors, police said.

Maffia was transported to Southampton Town Police Dept headquarters for processing then released on an appearance ticket; he is slated to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date, police said.
