Man Crashes Into Gate At Hampton Bays Home, Charged With DWI: Police

The incident took place Sunday night in Hampton Bays, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing into a gate at a home in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, Gerardo Calyeca-Gonzalez, 29, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on Sunday at 9:45 p.m. after the single motor vehicle crash at Wakeman Road and Maple Avenue.

Upon arrival, patrol officers saw Calyeca-Gonzalez standing outside a car he had been driving, which had crashed into a gate on private property located on Wakeman Road, police said.

Gerardo Calyeca-Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the Southampton Town Police Department headquarters for arrest processing, police said.

Gerardo Calyeca-Gonzalez was charged with felony driving while intoxicated; misdemeanor aggravated driving while intoxicated; misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device; and several violations of the New York State vehicle and traffic law, police said.

He was held to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court at morning arraignment, police said.
