Man Found Asleep At Wheel In Road Charged With DWI: Police

The Westhampton man was arrested in Speonk early Friday, police say.

SPEONK, NY — A Westhampton man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after being found asleep at the wheel in the road, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 4 a.m. Friday. Oscar Macario, 26, was found asleep in his vehicle, blocking the flow of traffic, at the intersection of N. Phillips ave. and Depot Road, police said.

Officers determined that he was intoxicated; Macario was arrested and charged with misdemeanor aggravated DWI and several other traffic violations, police said.

He was taken to Southampton Town police headquarters and held to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court for a morning arraignment, police said.
