Man Left Dog In 103.8-Degree Car On LI: Police
The dog was found in "severe distress," police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested after his dog was found, in "severe distress," in a car where the temperature had reached 103.8 degrees, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, at 1:16 p.m., a call came in about a dog showing signs of distress in a vehicle parked at Tony's Tubs on Montauk Highway.

Bernardino Vigueras, 62, of Hampton Bays was arrested and charged him with confinement of a companion animal in vehicle in extreme temperatures, a violation, under the Agricultural and Markets Law, police said.

Family members came to the location to take the dog home, police said.
Southampton Town Police said if it is hot out, pets should be left home, rather than face the risk of serious injury by being left in a vehicle during hot and humid days.
