Man Who Crashed Into Hampton Bays Woods Charged With Felony DWI: PD
He was injured in the crash, police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A driver who crashed into the woods in Hampton Bays was charged with driving while intoxicated Saturday, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 5:26 p.m. in the vicinity of Red Creek Road near Upper Red Creek Road. A driver was reported to be operating in an erratic manner and then crashed into the woods a short time later, police said.
Southampton Police responded and assisted other emergency services in removing the driver, who was entrapped in the vehicle, authorities said.

The driver, Joseph Carrello, 49, of Hampton Bays, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash, police said. Carrello was arrested and charged with felony DWI, as well as vehicle and traffic infractions, police said.
