More Than 20 Firearms Seized In Westhampton Beach Home After Disturbance: Police

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A Westhampton Beach man was arrested after a dispute that led to the discovery of more than 20 firearms in a village home, police said.

According to Westhampton Beach police, officers responded Wednesday to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Mill Road in the Village of Westhampton Beach.

During the initial investigation, officers determined that the parties had been involved in a verbal dispute that began earlier in the evening at a local business and continued after they returned home, police said.

While officers were at the scene conducting their investigation, the complainant reported that the man had pointed a long firearm at them during the incident, causing the individual to fear for their life, police said.

Officers immediately canvassed the area and located the man, Alex Georgakakos, 49, of Westhampton Beach, near the residence, police said.

He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Westhampton Beach police headquarters for processing, police said.

Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence and, during the search, officers recovered more than 20 firearms, including handguns, shotguns, an assault-style rifle and numerous high-capacity magazines, police said.

Georgakakos has been charged in connection with the incident and is being held pending arraignment in the Westhampton Beach Village Justice Court, police said.

The investigation remains active, and additional criminal charges are anticipated as investigators continue to examine the other evidence recovered during the execution of the search warrant, police said.

Georgakakos is scheduled to be arraigned in Westhampton Beach Village Justice Court on Thursday, police said.
