Motorcyclist Airlifted After Crash: Police

Authorities have identified the man who sustained "serious injuries," police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A motorcyclist was airlifted Tuesday after an accident in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the crash took place at 11:36 a.m. at the intersection of Red Creek and Hildreth Roads in Hampton Bays, when John Scifo, 57, of Lynbrook, lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a Jeep driven by Tatiana Huertas, 30, of Hampton Bays. The motorcycle ended up beneath the Jeep, police said.

Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene; Scifo was airlifted by a Suffolk Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with "serious injuries," police said.

Huertas had four people in her vehicle but no injuries were reported, police said.

No charges were filed, police said.
