Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Jeep In Hampton Bays: Police

He was airlifted for treatment and later died, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A pedestrian who was struck in Hampton Bays Tuesday night had died, police said Thursday.

According to Southampton Town Police, at 10:36 p.m., a caller reported that a pedestrian, David Krouse, 63, of Hampton Bays, had been struck by a 2014 Jeep Cherockee on Montauk Highway and Springville Road; the driver, Andres Cardona, 33, of East Hampton remained at the scene, police said.
Krouse was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County aviation and later died, police said.

Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene; the crash has been so far deemed non-criminal, police said.
