Person Struck By Train; LIRR Service Suspended On South Fork: MTA
BREAKING: Service is suspended in both directions on the Montauk line from Speonk to Montauk, the MTA Long Island Rail Road said in a Tweet.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Service was suspended in both directions from Speonk to Montauk Monday evening after an unauthorized person on the tracks was struck by a train, the Long Island Rail Road said on Twitter.
According to the LIRR, the 6:17 p.m. train from Jamaica, due in Montauk at 9:07 p.m., was canceled at Speonk after an unauthorized person on the tracks was struck by a train in Southampton. Reports indicated that the incident took place near Hill Station Road.
A bus was at the scene to transport passengers to eastbound locations.

Although some reports indicated that the pedestrian had died, the LIRR did not immediately return a request for comment or confirm that report.
Customers were advised to seek alternate travel methods or use alternate branches, such as the Ronkonkoma station, if possible, the LIRR said.
