Police Officer Injured In Long Island Expressway Crash
The officer's vehicle was struck while he was blocking the scene of another crash on the LIE Tuesday, police say.

MANORVILLE, NY — A police officer was injured when his vehicle was struck on the Long Island Expressway Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The eastbound lane of the LIE was closed at the William Floyd Parkway due to a multi-car crash near Exit 69 in Manorville, police confirmed.
A Suffolk County Police highway patrol officer was in his vehicle, blocking the left lane of the eastbound LIE due to a one-vehicle crash, when a van struck the rear of the police car at approximately 1:20 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.

The male officer was transported to Long Island Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The male van driver was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the initial crash was not injured, police said.
The crash led to traffic delays on the LIE Tuesday, witnesses said.
