Popular Hamptons Lifeguard Competition Coming Soon

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A popular Hamptons lifeguard competition is set to unfold this week.

The Annual Interbeach Lifeguard Competition will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. on Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays.

"Come cheer on your favorite lifeguards and watch the men and women who rule the beach get put to the test in seven different events: distance swim, distance run, four-man longboard paddle relay, land line rescue, 4x100-meter relay, run-swim-run, and the ultra-competitive beach flags," organizers said.

The event is also a precursor to the East Hampton Main Beach competition on July 19 and the USLA National Lifeguard Championship in August where Southampton, East Hampton and Montauk guards join together to compete as the Hampton Lifesaving Association.
