Possible Shooting Report In Westhampton Unfounded: Police
The 911 call was a possible "swatting" incident, where a prank phone call is made to draw a large police presence to a location: PD.
WESTHAMPTON, NY — The report of a possible shooting Friday night in Westhampton was unfounded, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at about 10:22 p.m., when a call came in about a possible shooting that had occurred inside a residence on Highland Street.
Multiple Southampton Town police patrol units responded and were assisted by several surrounding police agencies, authorities said.

Police determined that no shooting had occurred at the residence and that the 911 call was a possible "swatting" incident, where a prank phone call is made in order to draw a large police presence to a particular location, authorities said.
