PSEG LI Improves Energy Grid Reliability At South Fork Locations
See where PSEG Long Island will be making the improvements.

EAST END, NY — PSEG Long Island is improving the reliability of the energy grid in Noyack, West Hampton Dunes, and Westhampton Beach.
The storm-hardening work on the two distribution circuits is part of many system improvements included in the “Power On” program, PSEG Long Island said.
Beginning in March and lasting for about three months, PSEG Long Island’s contractors will work along mainline distribution lines in Noyack and in the villages of West Hampton Dunes and Westhampton Beach. To ensure traffic moves safely, PSEG Long Island will provide cones, flaggers and signage at the worksites. Local officials also will be notified in advance regarding any potential traffic concerns, PSEG Long Island said.

Storm-hardening improvements include stronger poles that are capable of withstanding winds up to 135 miles per hour. The new poles will be about the same height as the existing poles, have a stronger base, and will be placed no more than five ffeet from current pole locations, PSEG Long Island said.
In addition, to help wires deflect falling limbs instead of catching them, PSEG Long Island will be installing shorter cross arms atop some poles.

Current wire will be replaced with more resilient and durable wire.
Also, PSEG Long Island will upgrade or replace deteriorated equipment as necessary.
In Noyack, crews will be working on Long Beach Road between Noyack Road and Harbor Drive.
In Westhampton Beach and West Hampton Dunes, crews will be working on Dune Road between Cove Lane and Jessup Lane.
“We know electric reliability is more important than ever, especially on the East End, which often sees the strongest effects of major storms,” said Peggy Keane, PSEG Long Island’s vice president of construction and operations services. “So PSEG Long Island is strengthening the electric lines that directly power homes and businesses. These two Power On infrastructure improvement projects in Noyack, West Hampton Dunes and Westhampton Beach are part of our ongoing, multi-year effort to continue to improve electric reliability for our customers.”
