Residents Remember Loved Ones With Plaques At Good Ground Park

One family chose a bench to remember beloved Mickey McManus; a dedication takes place Friday.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Southampton Town residents who want to remember the ones they love in a beautiful, peaceful setting have chosen to place plaques of dedication in their honor at Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays.

The first park bench plaque will be dedicated to Mickey McManus by his wife and friends on Friday, following a commemorative mass at St. Rosalie’s Church. The McManus family chose the park bench dedication as a way to remember his love for open space and music, town officials said.

"The park’s dedication program invites participants to remember loved ones, mark significant events or demonstrate community pride by placing a plaque that can be enjoyed for years to come on park benches, light posts, trees, flowering bushes and water fountains," the town said in a release.
