Scouts Place Flags At Calverton To Honor Heroes On Memorial Day
The annual placing of the flags at Calverton National Cemetery brought scores of Scouts and families to Calverton on Saturday morning.

CALVERTON, NY — A beloved annual tradition continued Saturday as hundreds of Scouts, including those from Pack and Troop 483 in Hampton Bays, arrived at Calverton National Cemetery for the placing of flags to honor the nation's heroes.
Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Venture crews, Explorer posts, and Scouting families participated in the annual flag placement at Calverton National Cemetery, off of Route 25 in Calverton.
Following the placement of flags, all Scouts and families were invited to participate in a short ceremony and enjoy refreshments.

Units are expected to Saturday, June 5, at 9:30 a.m. to remove the flags and place them
in bundles for storage for the following year.
The event is sponsored and coordinated through The American Legion Pearl Harbor
Memorial Post.

On Memorial Day, a ceremony will be held at Calverton National Cemetery, located at 210 Princeton Blvd., at 1 p.m.
In addition, earlier in the week, Troop 483 placed American flags on more than 260 veterans' graves in the Hampton Bays Good Ground Cemetery.
