Southampton Police Log: Police Nab Drug Dealer At The Beach Bar
Editor's Note: The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation.

Assault
Shaun Hayes, 24, of Patchogue was arrested by Southampton Town Police Monday at 8:35 p.m. on Dune Road in Hampton Bays and charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Police say Hayes punched another man in the face, causing two cuts about his left eye and bleeding.

DWI
Selvin Cartagena, 23, of HB was arrested by Southampton Town Police Tuesday at 1:25 a.m. on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Cartagena admitted he had three beers. He was in a minor accident and taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment.

Ingrid Cuevas, 23, of Central Islip was arrested by Southampton Town Police Monday at 7:55 p.m. on Dune Road in East Quogue and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Cuevas was stopped for driving out of lane.
Carlos Velasquez, 20, of Riverhead was arrested by Southampton Town Police Monday at 9:56 p.m. on the corner of Montauk Highway and Old Meeting House Road in Quiogue and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Velasquez was in an accident and tried to leave the scene. Upon further investigation, police said they found that he had been drinking.
Shannon Brown, 31, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Southampton Town Police Sunday at 7:10 p.m. on the corner of Montauk Highway West and Jones Road in East Quogue and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Brown was stopped for failing to maintain his lane.
Kurt Blom, 25, of Sag Harbor was arrested by Southampton Town Police Saturday at 2:35 a.m. on the corner of Fanning and Ponquogue avenues in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police stopped Blom for not using his blinker to make a right hand turn.
Driving While Ability Impaired
Tara Bennett, 38, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Southamptown Police Sunday at 2:35 p.m. on Flanders Road in Flanders and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. Police said Bennett was in a minor accident on Flanders Road. Upon further investigation, police say they learned she was under the influence of drugs.
Criminal Mischief
John Tarlen, 40, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Southampton Town Police Friday at 10:22 p.m. on Bay Avenue East in Hampton Bays and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony. Police said Tarlen was involved in a domestic incident with a woman, when he broke the rear window of a car.
Jennifer Martin, 25, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Southampton Town Police at 10:57 a.m. on Monday, June 27 at her home on Last Lane in Hampton Bays and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal tampering, second-degree obstructing government administration and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. Police said Martin scratched the hood of a family member’s car and a police car, soaked the inside of another car and kicked a police officer.
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Gregory Licata, 28, of Whitestone was arrested by Southampton Town Police Monday at 4 p.m. on Dune Road in Hampton Bays and charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. Police said Licata did not obey police instruction to keep moving so that traffic would not back up. Police said they noticed that Licata had a white substance caked around his left nostril, which was later discovered to be ketamine. Licata’s passenger, Jordan Supino, 30, of Willingboro, New Jersey was also arrested by Southampton Town Police and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Police said Supino had ketamine on his shirt and pants.
Forgery
Christopher Hay, 20, of College Point was arrested by Southampton Town Police Saturday at 3:11 a.m. on Foster Avenue in Hampton Bays and charged with second-degree forgery, a felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second degree criminal impersonation, both misdemeanors. When police arrested Hay on Foster Avenue, they said he identified himself as Anthony Caruso. Later at police headquarters, police discovered Hay’s ruse when they traced his fingerprints to his real name. Police originally arrested Hay when they saw him sitting in the front passenger seat of a car with oxicodone and marijuana.
Burglary
A 57-year old man from Westhampton told Southampton Town Police that on Tuesday, June 28 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. someone came into his home on Montauk Highway in Westhampton and stole sausage, steak, hamburger meat and smoked neck bone. Extra patrols have been sent to monitor the house.
