String Of Burglaries At South Fork Eateries Reported In 1 Night: PD

4 incidents were reported in a number of hours, police say.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Police are investigating a string of burglaries at four popular local eateries in Hampton Bays and Westhampton last week.

According to Southampton Town police, on Thursday at about 2:22 a.m., an alarm went off at Cowfish, located on East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. Patrol officers responded and found doors had been damaged after someone had forced entry, also breaking a lock, police said.

There were no known proceeds taken during the incident, police said.

Next, at about 3:37 a.m., an additional alarm was called in at Rumba, located on Canoe Place Road in Hampton Bays, police said. When patrol officers responded, they found a broken side door window; it did not appear that anyone had entered the restaurant, police said.

Patrol officers canvassing the area due to the incidents also, at 3:58 a.m., found the front door forced open and damaged at Buckley's, located on West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, police said. An unknown male had entered the restaurant; there were also no known proceeds from that incident, police said.

Later that morning, at 8:25 a.m. a burglary was reported at Buoy One, located on Montauk Highway in Westhampton, police said. Someone had entered the business and taken cash as well as a bottle of tequila, police said.

Southampton Town Police detectives responded to all the incidents and are currently investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Southampton Town Police Department's detective division at 631-702-2230.
