Students Celebrate Reading, Dr. Seuss
The event was planned to coincide with Read Across America week.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Students at Hampton Bays Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss’ birthday with schoolwide and classroom activities that inspired them to pick up books and read, the district said.
The week kicked off on Feb. 28 with students and staff wearing as many colors as they could to coincide with the Dr. Seuss book “My Many Colored Days.” The fun and learning continued with other theme days, including Mismatched Socks Day to align with the popular “Fox in Socks.”
Each day, students heard from a mystery reader who read from Dr. Seuss books during the morning announcements. They also participated in “Drop Everything and Read” time for 10-minute stints.
