Understanding and Preventing Colorectal Cancer
PBMC presents Dr. Brett Ruffo and Dr. Mark Coronel as they share the latest information on Colorectal Cancer on March 31st.
Peconic Bay Medical Center’s “Ask the Medical Expert” Speaker Series will continue on Tuesday, March 31st from 12:30-2:30 p.m. when Dr. Brett Ruffo, a board-certified colorectal surgeon, and Dr. Mark Coronel, a board-certified gastroenterologist, will share the latest information about “Understanding and Preventing Colorectal Cancer.” This is a FREE Community Information Program presented by Peconic Bay Medical Center and will be held at the Winslow Specialty Care Center located at the Gertrude and Louis Feil Campus for Ambulatory Care, 496 Route 111 in Manorville, NY.
March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. In the United States, 1 in 17 people will develop colorectal cancer. Each year approximately 150,000 new cases of colorectal cancer are diagnosed in the United States and 11,000 new cases of colorectal cancer are diagnosed in New York alone. This form of cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths and is also one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers. The risk of developing colorectal cancer increases with age (more than 90% of cases occur in patients over 50), which is why early screening is so important. Approximately 60% of colorectal cancer deaths could be prevented with routine screenings. As leading experts, Dr. Ruffo and Dr. Coronel are committed to highlighting the importance of regular cancer screenings. Bring all your questions for this interactive program.
The program is free to the community, however seating is limited and reservations are required. For information and reservations, call 631.367.4371.
