'Unruly' LI Man Carried Off County Bus: Police

He acted in a "violent and combative manner toward fellow bus riders as well as responding officers," police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — An "unruly" Bay Shore man was carried from a Suffolk County Transit bus on Wednesday, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 11:59 a.m. when a 911 call came in about the "unruly" passenger, who was causing a disturbance and refusing to exit the bus. The bus driver had stopped on the shoulder of the road at North Road and Oakhurst Road in Hampton Bays due to his "tumultuous behavior," police said.

Officers responded and made contact with the passenger, who continued to act in a "violent and combative manner" toward fellow bus riders as well as responding officers, police said. The man, Felix Martinez, 46, continued to refuse to exit the bus and was ultimately carried off the bus by several police officers, police said.

It was also determined he had refused to pay his bus fare after boarding the bus in Riverside, police said.

Martinez was arrested and charged with theft of services, a misdemeanor; second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor; resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a violation, police said.

Martinez was taken to an area hospital and released on as desk appearance ticket for court at a later date, police said.
