Val, Sal Named At Hampton Bays High School

Congratulations to these dedicated students!

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — With graduation just a few months away, Hampton Bays High School seniors Erik Morastitla and Nicholas Kolb have been named the Class of 2017 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Morastitla has had a number of academic accomplishments throughout his high school career, including being recognized by the College Board as a National Hispanic Scholar for his performance on the PSAT and being named an AP Scholar with Honor. He is also a member of his school’s Key Club, Leo Club and robotics team, the district said.

While still finalizing his college selection choice, Morastitla intends to begin to study mathematics in the fall.

Kolb has also been a dedicated scholar and an active participant in extracurricular programs throughout his high school career. He is an accomplished musician, composing his own music, and a performer who has acted in his school’s productions. He's also sung in the select choir and played in the jazz band. Kolb is a member of the school’s National Honor Society, Leo and Key Clubs and Thespian Society, the district added.

Kolb will be enrolled in the honors program at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, where he plans to study architecture.
