Voters' Guide 2016: Hampton Bays School District Budget, School Board Election

What you need to know for the budget vote on Tuesday.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY - Hampton Bays residents will vote on the school district’s $49,951,477 proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, May 17.

The total budget increase is 1.33 percent while the tax levy would increase 1.02 percent over the current year’s rate.

Two candidates, Richard Joslin and Kevin Springer, are running for unopposed for two seats on the Hampton Bays Board of Education.

In addition, voters will decide upon a proposition that would green light $300,000 to be transferred from an existing fund balance to the general fund for repairs to buildings and facilities.

Voting will take place on May 17 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the middle school gymnasium. .
