WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Westhampton Beach students, learning skills about how to shine as members of a digital generation, took home top honors after a competition at Stony Brook University recently.

Westhampton Beach High School students enrolled in the school’s "Digital Generation" class participated in a final project competition at Stony Brook University on Jan. 25, with two of the students taking home honors, the district said.

Students collaborated remotely with peers across Suffolk County on technology-based projects, using Google apps to prepare their work for presentation. This year’s topic centered on technology issues facing society, the district said.

The competition featured 14 teams who presented Google slideshows, commercials, newsletters, flyers, market research, infographics and social media posts that supported research topics, the district said.

The top three teams were chosen by a team of judges, among whom were Westhampton Beach administrators William Fisher and Jessica Williams, the district said.
