Westhampton Beach Receives Top Honors With Athletic Distinction Award

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Westhampton Beach scholars have been honored for their academic achievements, as well.

Westhampton Beach High School was recently presented with a Scholar/Athlete Team School of Distinction Award from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, a release said.

To earn the award, all 22 of the school’s varsity sports teams met the criteria of holding an above 90 percent team GPA for the 2015-2016 school year.

“It has to be one of my proudest moments as an athletic director to receive such a prestigious award,” said Kathy Masterson, director of health, physical education and athletics. “I am proud that our students not only find success on the fields, courts and mats, but also in the classroom.”
