Westhampton Beach Students Collect Food For the Needy During 'Souper' Bowl

Westhampton Beach kids collected 400 cans of soup and nonperishable items to help those in need, right before Super Bowl Sunday.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — With all eyes on the Super Bowl Sunday and snacks galore being prepared to feed hungry sports fans, Westhampton Beach Elementary School students have taken it upon themselves to help nourish those in need.

Westhampton Beach Elementary School students collected 400 cans of soup and nonperishable items on Friday as part of the district's annual “Souper” Bowl effort.

Students used their donations to vote for the football team they think will win this year’s Super Bowl by placing them in a team bin.

The final tally indicated that 319 students beleive the Falcons will win; 81 say the Patriots will take home the title.

All items collected will be donated to local food pantries.
