🌱 Westhampton-Hampton Bays Daily: Pothole Funding + Opioid Settlement

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Westhampton-Hampton Bays.

(Patch Media)

Happy Wednesday, Westhampton-Hampton Bays neighbors and friends! Leading the news today, Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced $157 million to tackle Long Island's pothole-pitted roadways and crumbling infrastructure. Patch has been highlighting the dangers and frustration posed by potholes and roadways in desperate need of repair — and we'd like to know what you think about the funding. Is it enough? Where should efforts be concentrated? Please send your thoughts, to be included in a future story, to Lisa.Finn@patch.com.

Also, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the first opioid settlements are set to be distributed on Long Island and used toward treatment and other life-saving programs. After the long years of an insidious scourge that took the lives of so many we love, this is the first step toward some semblance of justice, one meant to help with healing. As AG James said, the funding can't bring our loved ones back — but it can bring help to scores of others who may see new futures dawn and lives saved.

Until tomorrow . . . .
