Westhampton Historical Museum Needs Artifacts For Nation's 250th Anniversary

"To make this exhibit truly resonate, we need your help."

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — The Greater Westhampton Historical Museum needs a hand: Gavin R. Fontanez, executive director and educational director of the museum, wrote a message to the community, with an invitation to help "build a centerpiece of our upcoming celebration: a special exhibit for the nation’s 250th anniversary."

He added: "Your treasured objects could become a vital part of our Semiquincentennial exhibit dedicated to telling the story of America's birth. To make this exhibit truly resonate, we need your help."

The Museum is seeking original items from Colonial Era America to include in the displays, particularly objects connected to the American Revolution or daily life in the 1700s.

"A family heirloom, document, or tool from your home could be the very piece that helps illuminate Westhampton’s role in our shared national heritage and creates a powerful, personal experience for every visitor."

Every loaned item selected for the exhibit will be handled with the "utmost" professional care, security, and insurance, Fontanez said.
