Westhampton Swimmer Splashes Into 1st Place At County Championship

The time earned him a spot in the New York State Championship in March and an All-American consideration.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A Westhampotn Beach High School swimmer has splashed his way to a championship win.

Westhampton Beach High School junior Max Buchen took first place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 56:54 at the Suffolk County Championship meet at Stony Brook University on Feb. 11, the district said.

The time earned him a spot in the New York State Championship in March and an All-American consideration. At the same meet, he placed in the top 10 in the 50 freestyle.
