Westhampton Woman Sees Thief Stealing Car From Her Driveway: Police

WESTHAMPTON, NY — A Westhampton woman saw a thief stealing her car right out of her driveway Monday night, police said.

The incident took place at 10:54 p.m., Southampton Town police said. The woman called 911 and

Southampton Town police, Westhampton Village police, Quogue Village Police and New York State police responded, officials said.

The vehicle was located a short time later, unoccupied, in Quogue; a New York State police K-9 unit helped search, police said.

Westhampton Beach police officers located Franklyn Munoz, 33, of Shirley, in the area; he was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, police said. He was transported to Southampton Town police headquarters and held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, where he was released on his own recognizance, police said.
