Woman, 89, Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle In Hampton Bays: Police

The crash took place Monday morning, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — An 89-year-old woman died Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the crash took place at 10:52 a.m. Margaret Lucey, of Hampton Bays, was crossing Ponquogue Avenue westbound when a vehicle that was making a left from Good Ground Road onto Ponquogue Avenue struck her, police said.

The driver, Jon Stanton of Hampton Bays, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation; no charges were filed, police said.

Lucey was transported by Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Southampton Town Police patrol officers and detectives, the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Hampton Bays Fire Department, and Southampton Town fire marshals and bay constables responded to the scene, police said.
