Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty After Deaths Of 2 Dogs: SPCA

She failed to care for her two chihuahuas, resulting in their deaths, the Suffolk County SPCA says.

WESTHAMPTON, NY — A Westhampton woman was charged with animal cruelty after she failed to care for her two chihuahuas, resulting in their deaths, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

Detectives with the Suffolk County SPCA arrested Nicy Young, 58, and charged her with animal cruelty on Tuesday, the SPCA said.

Young was charged with two counts of animal cruelty for failure to provide care for the now-deceased dogs, the SPCA said.

Young was arrested without incident and is scheduled to appear in Southampton Justice Court on Aug. 24, the SPCA said.

Chief Roy Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. Anyone who witnesses any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County is asked to contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722.
