Worker Injured In Fall At Dune Road House Under Construction: FD

The man fell through a hole on the first floor and landed on the basement floor, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department says.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A worker at a home under construction on Dune Road was injured after he fell through a hole in the floor Tuesday, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department said.

According to fire officials, a call came in at 9:30 a.m. about a reported confined space/structure collapse at the house. However, upon their arrival the volunteers discovered that there had been no collapse or entrapment, the WBFD said.

They did, however, find that a worker at the house had been seriously injured when he fell through a hole on the first floor and landed on the basement floor, fire officials said.

The man, whose injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening, was stabilized and taken by a Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance unit to Rogers Beach where a Suffolk County Police Department helicopter landed and transported the man to Stony Brook University Hospital, fire officials said.

The Westhampton Beach Fire Department responded with two chiefs, two engines, a rescue truck, a ladder truck, and a fire police vehicle. One lane of Dune Road was closed until the man was taken
from the scene, officials said. In addition to the ambulance and fire department volunteers, the Westhampton Beach Police Department also responded.
