5 Clerks Sold Vaping Products To Minors In Suffolk: Police

The clerks were arrested during an investigation into the sale of vaping products to customers under 21, police say.

Five people were arrested on Saturday for selling vaping products to minors in West Islip, Bay Shore and Brentwood, according to Suffolk Police.

In response to community complaints, officers conducted an investigation into the sale of e-liquid nicotine. Six locations were checked for compliance.

According to police, the following five clerks were arrested and charged with violating the Suffolk County Code regulating the sale of E-Cigarettes, which included liquid e-nicotine:

  • Joseph Attallah, 21, of West Islip, employed at House of Glass on 777 Udall Road in West Islip
  • Navjit Singh, 26, of Ozone Park, New York, employed at OK Gas on 221 West Main Street in Bay Shore
  • Warnakulasuriya Kumara Fernando, 44, of Bay Shore, employed at Valero on 1692 Union Boulevard in Bay Shore
  • Gokhan Kilinc, 39, of Islip, employed at Shamrock on 645 East Main Street in Bay Shore
  • Cindy Arrue, 22, of Brentwood, employed at Cloud 9 Smoke Shoppe on 128 Heyward Street in Brentwood

The following business complied, and refused the sale of e-liquid nicotine to minors:

  • Husco Vape Shop on 736 Main Street in Islip

Investigators also found 17 possible imitation designer belts at Cloud 9 Smoke Shoppe and a counterfeit investigation is ongoing.

The five people arrested are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
