Five Treated For Smoke Inhalation After Brentwood House Fire

Three pets died in the early morning fire.

BRENTWOOD, NY - Five people were treated for smoke inhalation, including three who were taken to the hospital, and three pets were killed after a house fire broke out in Brentwood on Thursday morning, according to the East Brentwood Fire Department.

The East Brentwood department responded to the fire at the two-story home on Ridgewood Avenue at about 4:05 a.m.

The fire caused the first floor, second floor and roof to collapse. A total of 11 residents lived in the home.

All escaped the fire, but five people were treated for minor smoke inhalation. Three of them were transported to a local emergency room.

Three pets - two dogs and one cat - died in the fire.

The Brentwood, Central Islip, Hauppauge, Commack and Islip Terrace fire departments all responded to assist with the fire.
