5 West Islip Students Named NYSSMA All-State Musicians

The students will perform at the New York State School Music Association's All-State Festival in Rochester this December.

WEST ISLIP, NY — Five West Islip High School students have been selected to perform in the New York State School Music Association's All-State Festival in Rochester from Dec. 2 to 5.

The West Islip School District announced Friday that the students chosen include Drake Castonguay, as an alternate for symphonic band; Emma McDonald as an alternate for mixed chorus; Grace Mineo, for mixed chorus; Emma Musial, as an alternate for symphony orchestra; and Mark Peragine, for symphonic band.

The festival features accomplished musicians from New York State. Students will be attending the four-day festival at the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music Concert Hall.
