• Coast Guard, West Islip Fire Department Save 5 in Dramatic Water Recue Near Fire Island Inlet (longisland.com) — West Islip firefighters and EMS joined the U.S. Coast Guard and neighboring departments to rescue five people from a sinking boat near Fire Island Inlet, bringing everyone safely back to shore. The coordinated response launched from West Islip Marina, with one person taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and others treated and released on scene.
