Students are listening to Hispanic music during homeroom, allowing them to experience music from across the Spanish-speaking world. Homerooms are also competing in a weekly Hispanic culture trivia challenge focused on countries, traditions, history, language and notable people.
Students in Kristina Rocco's Spanish classes are helping create a "Together, We Fly" mural featuring cultural terms representing Hispanic identity.
Rocco's students, along with students in Caryn Drezner's world language classes, also completed short biographies highlighting notable Hispanic figures and their contributions to history, the arts, sports, science and other fields.
The activities are designed to celebrate the cultures, histories and contributions of Hispanic communities, according to the district.
