UPDATE: Police ID Driver in Maserati Crash Into Higbie Bagels, Flavor Crisp

A car crashed into Higbie Bagels and Flavor Crisp Chicken in West Islip on Monday night.

According to police, 40-year-old Michael Bidetti, of West Islip, was driving a 2010 Maserati southbound on Udall Road when he lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Higbie Lane and crashed into the side of Higbie Bagels, located at 264 Higbie Lane, damaging the entire front portion of the bagel store around 10:30 p.m.

The car then crashed into the front portion of the adjoining store, Flavor Crisp. Both stores were closed at the time of the crash.

Bidetti was transported to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. No criminal charges have been filed.
