Daily Rainfall Record Broken Monday in Islip, Arctic Cold Front Next

Old record set in 2002 is easily topped on a wet Monday.

Monday isn’t over yet and a daily rainfall record has already been set, according to the National Weather Service.

A total of 1.44 inches of rain was measured in Islip on Monday afternoon, the NWS said, breaking the old daily record of 0.82 inches set on this day in 2002.

The rain is expected to taper off Monday night, but then it’s going to get cold. Real cold.
