Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Into Pole

WEST ISLIP, NY - A driver was hospitalized after crashing his car into a pole in West Islip early Saturday morning.

Volunteers from the West Islip Fire Department responded to a crash on Union Boulevard west of Higbie Lane at about 12:48 a.m.

Upon arrival, it was determined that the car struck and downed a PSEG utility pole containing 3 transformers.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the car was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip with minor injuries.

PSEG was notified for the transformer fluid spill and pole replacement.

No other injuries were reported.
