Ex-West Islip Residents Receive Help After Losing Home In Fire
Despite no longer living in West Islip, the community came together to help the family who lost their home in Alaska in a recent fire.
WEST ISLIP, NY - The local community came together to help raise money for two former West Islip residents who lost their home in Alaska in a devastating fire recently.
Michelle Yuliano Howard, her husband Shanen Howard and their son Clay unfortunately lost all of their belongings and sadly, their pets, after a fire destroyed their home on August 3rd.
The former Long Islanders now live in Fairbanks, Alaska while Yuliano Howard serves on active duty in the Army as an X-ray tech and Howard is in the Army reserves.

Luckily, the family was not home at the time of the fire so they were uninjured but still suffered a devastating loss.
As a result, several of their friends came together to start a fundraiser on Facebook to help raise money for the family as their rebuild.

The campaign raised a total of $8,865 with a goal of reaching $10,000.
