Firefighter Injured While Battling West Islip House Fire: FD

The blaze was reported on Thursday morning.

WEST ISLIP, NY - One firefighter was injured in a West Islip house fire on Thursday morning, according to the West Islip Fire Department.

The blaze was reported at the home on Duffin Avenue and Udall Road at about 9:30 a.m..

Arriving firefighters saw the fire coming from the second floor of the 2-story home.

Within minutes, more firefighters arrived and quickly started knocking down the fire.

Members of the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company, Babylon Fire Department and Bay Shore Fire Department all responded.

It took crews 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.

No injuries to the occupants were reported.

One firefighter was treated for a minor injury.

The fire is under investigation by the Town of Islip Fire Marshal and Suffolk Police Arson units.
