SSCM Students Run Food Drive

Students from SS. Cyril & Methodius in Deer Park organized a food drive last Sunday to benefit a local outreach program. 

Generous shoppers at Stop & Shop on Commack Road in Deer Park filled four carts with boxes and cans of food. The shelves at the SSCM Parish Outreach will be stocked with the donated items. 

Bayport Girl Enjoys Unique Summer Camp Experience

Bayport resident Riley Kaler is having a unique summer camp experience this year. 

She is one of many campers at School-Business Partnerships of Long Island’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Summer Day Camp that recently demonstrated their robot performance skills for family members at Dowling College in Oakdale, which hosted the camp for the second year in a row.

Babylon Charity Event to Benefit Local Teen with Bone Cancer

An afternoon of fun will be held on August 17 at Lily Flanagan's Pub in Babylon Village to benefit a Lindenhurst teen battling bone cancer.

Carissa Crossan, a Lindenhurst girl who will turn 13 later this year, was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer found commonly in the bone or soft tissue in areas such as the pelvis, femur, humerus, ribs and collar-bone.

The charity event will donate all proceeds to her benefit with donations starting at $40 for adults and $10 for children 17 years old and under.
