We wish to provide at least 5000 needy children with a Holiday Basket or Spring Gift. Getting the family and friends together to fill the country baskets, pails, pocketbooks and tote bags you have lying around with toys, stuffed bunnies, slippers, socks, grass, plastic eggs, candy and happy meal toys can be fun!
You can make a theme basket for a baby or with a specific character in mind. Children are especially delighted when you fill a gently used lunch box, backpack, or pocketbook with goodies. You may fill plastic bags or decorated lunch bags with treats. Plush animals should be cleaned, decorated with ribbon and holding a candy filled egg! Every gift should be sent in clean, decorated and ready for distribution.

Please participate on March 21, Some churches make family food baskets but we are the only organization on Long Island, that I’m aware of, that makes gift baskets for the kids.
The Helping Hands operates on no funds. It has become more challenging for me to meet the year round list of growing demands of our needy neighbors between drives on zero funds. Donations of candy, plastic bags in all sizes, and paper bags are needed. Maybe, you can put a box out for candy at your office. Those of you, who are planning to help at the hall, bring your own scissors, tape, ribbon and a bag of candy. We have added a PayPal link, if you would like to donate but can’t make the drive. Please go to our web page to donate. http://www.freewebs.com/hhinwi/apps/donations/
Making this community celebration more complete, the Foster Grandparents of Suffolk County will be hosting a hospitality table for all the “hungry, hardworking volunteer bunnies, young and old! “The Helping Hands is all about Folks, of all ages reaching out and joining hands to “change the world thru kindness, 1 smile at a time”. We will surely, be instilling great values in our children of old fashioned respect and love for one another!
Thank you for being compassionate people.
