Lack of Intensity Early Costs the Lions Late
Even though they gave their all in the 4th Quarter and charged back, a lack of life early costs the Lions the game in a 19-14 Loss

West Babylon played four quarters and the Lions played one (the fourth) and came up short as the Eagles beat the Lions 19-14 Friday Night in West Babylon. The Lions were flat and lifeless through the first three quarters failing to convert several fourth and short opportunities and allowing the Eagles to run with poor tackling. The Eagles were up 13-0 at halftime and only one score was an offensive touchdown as a tipped passed was run back for a TD. Tipped and dropped passes were a major bugaboo for the Lions.
In the fourth quarter, the Lions woke up and scored on TD passes to Alex Barbera and JJ Downey from Joe Rushton. However late in the game deep in Eagles territory several dropped passes cost the Lions and the Eagles ran out the clock.
There were some highlights the special teams were very good, blocking a field goal and setting up great field position with kick and punt returns by the duo of Barbera and Downey. Also the kick coverage was good.

The Lions are going to need to play with the same spirit displayed against Riverhead this Saturday when the undefeated Colts of Half Hollow Hills West come to West Islip for the home opener.
