Man With 28 License Suspensions Drove Car With Tinted Windows: PD

The 51-year-old was seen driving a black Mercedes with no front license plate and an expired inspection, police say.

WEST BABYLON, NY - An East Islip man was arrested on Friday after he was caught driving with 28 license suspensions in West Babylon, according to Suffolk Police.

Matthew Zaroba, 51, was driving a 2008 black Mercedes Benz, westbound, on Little East Neck Road with extremely dark tinted windows, no front license plate and an expired inspection, when First Precinct Patrol officers initiated a traffic stop at about 3:45 p.m., police said.

An investigation revealed Zaroba did not have a New York State driver’s license and his New York State identification card was suspended 28 times, police said.

Zaroba was charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and was also issued summonses for unlicensed operator, no front plate, switched license plates, illegally tinted windows, and operating an unregistered, uninsured and uninspected vehicle.

He was previously arrested in 2013 for stealing more than $117,000 from a flooring business while working as a carpet installer, police said.
