Man On Drugs Caught Driving Stolen Car, Tries To Escape Cops: Police

The man was apprehended by officers at the Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center, police said.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A Brooklyn man tried to escape cops after he was caught driving a stolen car while on drugs in Brentwood on Sunday afternoon, according to State Police.

At 12:20 p.m., a state trooper stopped a blue Toyota Camry for a traffic violation on the southbound Sagtikos State Parkway south of the LIE.

After the car pulled over, the driver, later identified as 46-year-old Sean Connors, fled on foot, police said.

Connors was found a short time later on the grounds of Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center on 998 Crooked Hill Road by State Police members with the help of Suffolk County Police, SCPD K-9 Unit, SCPD Aviation Unit, as well as State DEC officers, police said.

A DMV inquiry indicated that the car was reported stolen to the NYPD on March 14, police said.

Connors was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, driving while ability impaired by drugs, and traffic violations, police said.

He was held for morning arraignment at Suffolk County First District Court.
