Man High on Drugs Crashes Car into Median on Sagtikos Parkway: Police

His passenger was also found to be in possession of drugs, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A Bronx man was arrested for driving while on drugs after he crashed into the center median on the Sagtikos Parkway in Brentwood on Tuesday evening, according to State Police.

According to police, 37-year-old Miguel Fuentes was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer when he attempted to enter the southbound Sagtikos State Parkway from the on-ramp at exit S2 at about 5 p.m.

While trying to enter the parkway, he lost control of the car and struck the center median, police said.

Fuentes was then arrested after officers found him to be impaired by drugs and in possession of cocaine, police said.

His front seat passenger, 37-year-old Jessica Ocasio of New York City, sustained non-life threatening internal injuries and was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment, police said.

Further investigation revealed that Ocasio was also in possession of cocaine and she was also arrested, police said.

Fuentes was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second degree vehicular assault, police said.

He will be arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court on Wednesday.

Ocasio was released on appearance ticket for seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance returnable to Suffolk County First District Court., police said.
