Man Robs Babylon Bank After Attempting To Rob West Islip Bank: Police

The man robbed a bank 15 minutes after attempting to rob another bank over 2 miles away, police say.

Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a West Islip bank before robbing a Babylon bank within 15 minutes on Wednesday morning.

According to Suffolk Police, a man entered Astoria Bank on 526 Union Boulevard at 9:10 a.m., approached a teller and displayed a note demanding cash.

The teller did not comply and the man fled.

About 15 minutes later, the man entered Capital One on 8 Little East Neck Road about 2.5 miles away, approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash. The teller complied and the man fled on foot.

The robber was described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 with a medium build and dark-colored facial hair. He was wearing a black knit hat, a black T-shirt and black pants.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
