Person Killed in Fire at Abandoned Suffolk County Home

BREAKING: The person has not yet been identified, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - One person was killed in a fire at an abandoned home in Brentwood early Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Police responded to 141 8th St. after a 911 caller reported a house fire at 3:51 a.m. After firefighters extinguished the fire, a person was found dead in the home.

Firefighters from Brentwood, Deer Park, Bay Shore, East Islip, Islip and Commack responded along with members of the Brentwood Legion Ambulance, Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance and Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance.

The person inside the home was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

There was no one else in the house. Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
